Project Description

Getting the smile you deserve

There are so many reasons adults decide to get their teeth straightened and we know this is a big decision for many. Here at East Midlands Orthodontics, we will help and support you through every step of the process. From your first consultation and throughout your treatment we are here to make the process as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

We offer a wide range of treatment options including Damon Clear and Invisalign and will talk to you about all your options and which type of brace will be best for you. We treat a large number of adult patients and will take the time to find out from you what you are hoping to achieve from orthodontic treatment and whether you have considered other dental treatments such as teeth whitening.

The first step in the process is a relaxed consultation with one of our specialist orthodontists who will take the time to understand what you are hoping to achieve and to explore which brace options will be best for you. They will examine your teeth and your facial symmetry and will devise a treatment plan that achieves the results you are looking for.

Many of our brace options are very decreet so no one will know you are having treatment unless you tell them. Invisalign is almost invisible and uses a series of clear aligners to gently move your teeth into their new position. Damon Clear brackets are also a great option and one favoured by many of our adult patients. Whatever option you decide, you can be assured treatment in a comfortable and relaxed environment where we take care to ensure you understand every step of the process and together, we will create a smile you can be proud of.

Here are just some of the reasons why adult patients choose to undertake their orthodontic treatment with us.

  • A wide choice of brace types including Invisalign and Damon Clear

  • Early, late and weekend appointments to accommodate your busy schedule

  • A friendly, knowledgable and caring team who take the time to get to know you

  • Flexible payment options allowing you to spread the cost of treatment

  • Dr Wood, with over 35 years experience, is one of the most respected and experienced orthodontists in Nottingham

Will I need to wear retainers after treatment?

Yes, your braces will move your teeth into the right position but wearing retainers will ensure they stay there! If you have been treated using Invisalign, you will be used to wearing retainers as they are very similar to your aligners. For those patients who have had fixed braces, you will quickly get used to wearing your retainers. You will need to wear them full time for six months then gradually reduce wear until you are just wearing them for a few nights per week. You should continue to wear retainers for as long as you want your teeth to remain straight.

How do I get started?

Simply give us a call and arrange a free consultation where you will have the opportunity to ask questions about treatment options. If you are keen to start quickly, we will do everything we can to start you promptly on your journey towards a fantastic new smile.

How do I keep my teeth clean with braces2019-05-26T19:58:43+01:00

It’s important that you brush your teeth at least twice a day, taking time to clean around the brackets and wires with an interdental brush. It will take longer to clean your teeth but the investment in your oral health will certainly be worth it.

How long does treatment take2019-05-28T13:28:42+01:00

Most of our patients complete treatment in around 18 months but this can be longer or shorter depending on what needs to be done. We’ll let you know how long we think treatment will take at the start.

Will I need elastics2019-05-28T13:29:03+01:00

Elastics help to move certain teeth or to change the relationship between your upper and lower teeth. During the planning stage we will let you know if you are likely to need elastics.

What foods should I avoid with braces2019-05-26T19:48:30+01:00

If you have Invisalign, you can continue to eat as normal as you will take your aligners out for eating. If you have fixed braces, you need to avoid anything hard, sticky or too chewy as these can damage your brace.

How often do I need to attend an appointment?2019-05-26T19:46:56+01:00

We are likely to see you every four to six weeks so we can check on progress.

We love receiving testimonials from our wonderful patients. Here are just a few that will give you an insight into undertaking treatment here at East Midlands Orthodontics

"I came to the East Midlands Orthodontics having previously visited two other practices and upon hearing amazing testimonials from three friends. East Midlands were 'by far' the most professional orthodontist. Considering I was a private patient rather than an NHS patient they left me feeling the money I was about to commit to was going to get me what I wanted and wisely spent...I would highly recommend this practice above all others. You get an honest practical answer to all your questions. Just don't waste your time going anywhere else!"

"I was slightly apprehensive about getting braces in my 40's but can honestly say that I'm so glad I did. Dr Wood and his team have transformed my smile and I feel more confident now than I ever have"

"I had orthodontics as a teenager but my teeth moved again in my 20's. I came to East Midlands Orthodontics and in 12 short months my treatment was finished and I'm delighted with the result. Thank you!"
