A patient recently asked us about what we do behind the scenes to keep everyone who visits the practice safe. This is a great question so we thought we would write a post to answer this question for anyone else who might also be interested in learning more.
Firstly, we have to follow very strict guidelines that govern how we operate as a dental practice. On top of this, we follow all the advice the government and the NHS (and several others) are giving in relation to coronavirus.
All the instruments we use are either single-use or go through a thorough decontamination and sterilisation process to ensure they are clean and safe to use on patients. Also, between every patient, the chair and surfaces are disinfected by the dental nurses before we see the next patient.
Our team wear personal protective equipment which includes gloves which are changed between each patient, a mask to help prevent the transmission of any airborne particles and sometimes visors to protect their eyes (in the same way we give you protective glasses to wear).
On top of this, we frequently clean everywhere within the practice, making sure we disinfect any surfaces and handles likely to be touched by patients. To help us to keep the practice clean, we encourage our patients to wash their hands and hand sanitiser gel is available for everyone visiting us.
We make sure we have plenty of patient information available keeping everyone up to date on hand-washing and the latest coronavirus advice and encourage patients who are feeling unwell to stay away. To help reduce the risk of exposure, we also encourage our patients to minimise the number of people attending appointments with them.
Hopefully, you can see that we take patient safety really seriously and we will continue to do everything we can to make your visit as safe as possible, now and long after the pandemic is over.
Extremely happy with the service received from this clinic. Everyone is patient and friendly. Specially thanks to Lamia, a young lady with passion and professional attitude, who makes my daughter and me feel at ease straight away. Also Dr Wood is brilliant!
